What Is The Current High Street Fashion?!

Yesterday I turned the big 30 and actually it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I had a really great day! The highlight of my day…I got everything in this photo for my birthday! My very own blogging space which 1000% beats sitting at the kitchen table with my go slow laptop, love it and ever so spoilt!

After my favourite breakfast – eggs Benedict and a £70 food shop boo! I headed into town for a little me time and to try to find something nice to wear this evening…Wednesday the 18th May.

I used to be quite ‘down’ with fashion but actually I couldn’t be any further up the other end of the scale if I tried! What the hell is the ‘in’ fashion at the moment…floral blouses and tops? That’s all I seemed to see everywhere! I am a huge Cath Kidston fan so don’t get me wrong I love a bit of a floral print, but I’m not digging this seasons look to me that’s more beach wear.

I went in every high shop. I noticed people holding armfuls of clothes to either buy or try on but nothing took even the slightest bit of my fancy! Next, H&M (I got a nice navy blue ‘practical’ dress £12.99 – BARGAIN!) Zara, Topshop, River Island, Fenwicks, New Look and Superdry. I was willing to pay out whatever the cost for the ‘right’ top to go with my boring but practical 3/4 comfy Mummy jeans I’m also wearing tonight, but nothing!

Usually Primarni (Primark) would be my first choice of shops, fashionable and very reasonably priced but it’s not every day you turn 30 and I wanted to treat myself. I therefore left Primark until the very end hoping I could find something elsewhere for a change. The moment I walked into Primark I saw ‘the’ top I was going to buy and it was at the bargain price of just £4 not bad at all! Although this is not really classed as your ‘usual’ going out top this will do for me! Finding something to wear is hard enough these days let along finding something to go out ‘out’ in.

See no evil monkey

I’m a Mummy and so not as young as I used to be. Those days of wearing belts…I mean skirts (haha) and dressy tops that showed all but my nipples are well and truly over for me!

Do we all hit that point in our lives (probably after having children) when we say ‘it’s time to grow up and act our age’ (for most of the time anyway) and start to think practically and sensibly, or is that just me? Why buy a glitzy top that will make me feel overdressed and no longer myself and will most likely collect dust after one wear? I’m more about buying something I can wear over and over again for years to come that will match with almost everything not get rid of until it starts to gain holes, #justsaying lol.

I just don’t get fashion anymore, I wish I did but gimme a pair of black skinny jeans and a t-shirt and I’m sorted!

Of course all feedback is welcome as per usual including any fashion tips 🙂
