Roughly 7am and my personal alarm clock went off i.e. Summer (my 2-year-old Daughter) Up I got after a rough night with a still very stiff body and a mouth full of ulcers. Out went the dogs and breakfast all round after getting the kiddies dressed. I check the time, 9 am…seriously? I was on form this morning! Shame I had no plans to leave the house.
After a shower and managing to both dry and straighten my hair I sat on the sofa wondering what to do with our day. The weather was miserable and I didn’t have the energy for toddler group So instead I decided we would have a lazy day in.
The kids took full advantage of being indoors creating a heck of a mess in almost every room they went it. I managed to read a whole book on and off today…yes that’s right a whole book! This is a first ever for me.
Before this year I had never read a book from start to finish. This year I have completed 2 books, that’s a huge accomplishment for even if you are thinking ‘big deal’
The book was called ‘The reason I jump’ and was written by a 13-year-old boy who explains his version of growing up with Autism. Perhaps it’s because it’s a subject that fascinates me after my 3-year-old son was diagnosed with ASD in June 2015.
I’m not sure how I feel after reading the book, there was a big build up to this from many people I have met recently and I kind of expected more. There are parts I don’t particularly agree with, perhaps this is because Riley is only 3 and we haven’t experienced that stage yet. I’m not sure.
I’m very proud to have read a whole book and for the kiddies to have let me sit on the sofa and read this on and off whilst seeing to their every need still and playing stickers and playdoh.
Thanks babies for wrecking the house, boring day today but busy day tomorrow!
